1. What we charge for
Homeowners pay us nothing, ever. There is no membership fee, no booking fee, and no charge to contact a professional.
Service professionals may subscribe to Premium, billed monthly. That subscription is the only payment we take, so it is the only payment we could refund.
We take no commission on any job. Money for work goes directly from the homeowner to the professional and never passes through us.
2. Try it free first
Every professional can list, be found, appear on their category and city pages, receive messages and job requests, and submit a limited number of bids each month — without paying anything.
That free plan is the trial. Nobody needs to buy Premium to find out whether this site brings them work, which is why we do not offer a trial period on the paid plan or a money-back window after it.
3. Cancelling
Cancel from your account at any time. You do not have to email us, and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep every Premium feature until then, and your account reverts to the free plan afterwards — your listing, reviews and history stay exactly where they are.
4. When we refund
If we charged you in error — a duplicate payment, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge for a plan you did not buy — we refund it in full. Tell us and we will fix it; we are not going to argue about our own mistake.
If a Premium feature was unavailable for a meaningful part of your billing period because something on our side was broken, tell us and we will refund a fair share of that period.
Where the law requires a refund, we give one. This policy does not remove any right you have that cannot be removed by agreement.
5. When we do not
Part of a month you have used. Cancelling mid-period does not produce a partial refund; the period runs to its end and you keep the features.
Not winning work. Premium buys placement and features. It does not buy leads, bids or jobs, and we have never said otherwise. A month with no work is not a fault in the product.
Forgetting to cancel. Renewal is stated at the point of purchase and again in the Terms, and cancelling takes one click at any time. That said — if you renewed and genuinely never came back to the site during that period, write to us. We would rather look at it than lose you over one month.
Accounts removed for breaking the rules. If we suspend or remove an account for violating the Terms or the Community Policy, billing stops and fees already paid are not refunded.
6. Money you paid a service professional
We are a directory. We are not a party to your agreement with a professional, we do not take payment for work, and we hold none of that money at any point. If a job went wrong, we have nothing to give back.
Your remedies are the ones you would have with any contractor: talk to them first — the messages on this site are your record of what was agreed — and if that fails, the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation for licensed trades, small claims court, or your own legal advice.
Tell us anyway. We cannot refund the work, but a professional who takes money and does not deliver is in breach of our rules, and that is something we can act on.
7. How to ask
Email support@hamptonroadshomeservices.com from the address on your account, and tell us what happened. You do not need a form or a reference number.
We reply within two business days. Approved refunds go back to the card that paid, usually within five to ten business days depending on your bank.
Please write to us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback takes weeks, costs us a penalty whether or not it succeeds, and gets to the same answer more slowly than an email does.
